Notification of Public Consultation: Monday 10 May to Monday 21 June 2021

Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils are working together to produce a new South Warwickshire Local Plan to cover our combined geographic area.

Why is the South Warwickshire Local Plan important?

The South Warwickshire Local Plan sets out the strategy and identifies sites to meet our future development needs in terms of housing, jobs, infrastructure and open spaces to 2050. We are aiming to do this in the context of addressing the important issues of climate change, wellbeing, connectivity and biodiversity. The Local Plan will also set out the planning policies that the two Councils will use to assess applications for development. It will replace certain key policies in the existing Stratford-on-Avon District Council Core Strategy and Warwick District Council Local Plan but other policies in these documents will remain in force.

What does the Scoping and Call for Sites consultation cover?

The consultation asks a series of questions about what issues the new Local Plan should cover, and seeks your views on how to tackle these issues. In particular, it seeks views on where in South Warwickshire new development should be located and how best to accommodate growth.

At the same time, a ‘Call for Sites’ exercise is being undertaken to invite suggestions for potential sites to be allocated for a variety of land uses.

On Thursday 6 May, voters in Ilmington went to the polls to respond to the question:

"Do you want Stratford-on-Avon District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Ilmington to help decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

The results were as follows:

The number of votes cast in favour of YES was 325
The number of votes cast in favour of NO was 33

Total number of ballot papers issued 361 - 3 reject.

The turnout was 59.97%.

Covid testing for people without coronavirus symptoms is now available in Stratford.

The new covid test centre, which is being delivered in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care, Warwickshire County Council, Stratford District Council, and a network including volunteers, aims to help us work towards returning life to as normal as possible.

The tests will be available for those without symptoms of Covid-19 from Tuesday 12 January 2021 at The Other Place (the Royal Shakespeare Company's studio theatre), Southern Lane, CV37 6BH.

Tests can be booked between 8.15am and 8pm, Monday to Friday and 10.15am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. The service uses the fast turnaround lateral flow test kits supplied by NHS Test and Trace, which can deliver results in around an hour and can help prevent people from unwittingly spreading the virus.

Tests can be booked online: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/stratford-upon-avon-covid-community-testing-32080684767.

Please note, only people without Covid-19 symptoms should book a test. Anyone with symptoms of Covid-19, that is a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a change to their sense of taste or smell – must self-isolate and book a test via https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling 119 as usual.

Residents are permitted to leave home for testing. The County Council is urging those working on the frontline or in places such as shops, early years settings or distribution centres to take advantage of the new service to get tested weekly.

The audit of accounts for Ilmington Parish Council for the year ended 31 March 2020 has been completed.

Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR)

Warwickshire Local Welfare Scheme helps the most vulnerable residents at times of unavoidable crisis by providing basic and essential help. It is recognised within the Scheme that some families who are struggling financially, and are eligible for free school meals, have difficulty covering the period when their children are off school during the school holidays. This scheme is therefore an opportunity to reach and help those most in need by supporting eligible families with the cost of food for their children over the school holiday periods.

Further information on the Scheme can be found at:
