20:20 Vision

Ilmington 20:20
What’s it all about? The purpose of Ilmington 20:20 Vision is to think collectively and creatively about ways in which we can build a resilient community in our village and also sustain it through the next decade of diminishing resources. It aims to inspire a range of projects which tackle the challenge of climate change and investigation of the environment, heritage and history of our parish.
20:20 hopes to promote social interaction between all age groups living in our community, including children and vulnerable adults.
The 20:20 committee organise a weekly circulation email to be sent around the village to anyone interested. This circulation contains useful information on up and coming activities happening within the village.
To sign up for the weekly Circulation please email or visit our Facebook page

Morris Men
There is a continuing tradition of Morris Dancing within the village of Ilmington and this has been the case for over 300years.
Undergoing periods of revival over the years the dances of the village have remained within certain families for generations, being handed down from father to son by oral tradition. Since a chance meeting between Cecil Sharp and the Headington Quarry Morris Dancers in 1899- the Morris was carefully noted and Ilmington received a visit from Mr Sharp in the early 1900’s to ‘collect’ our dances. Since that time the side has continued to flourish in the village and has become of noteable interest to Morris dancers world-wide (Ilmington dances are performed in the USA!)
The Morris is performed at certain times of the year in the village, at local events, at local pubs and festivals at home and abroad- if you would like more information about the village Morris and where to be able to see them, please go to

Ilmington Horticultual Society

President:  Mrs Sylvia Gardner
The Society, which is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society, dates back to 1945.
Ilmington’s Horticultural Society does not have members but organises visits and events that are open to all. Its main activity is to run an Annual Show of fruit, flowers, vegetables, cookery and crafts which takes place each August Bank Holiday Monday as part of Ilmington Show.
Anyone can enter whether they live in Ilmington or outside the village and there are special classes for children so all the family can join in. You don’t have to be an expert grower, cook or artist but this is a real competition with trophies to be won. Have a go and enjoy producing the best flowers, vegetables, jams, cakes, wines, photos and art and crafts.
Unfortunately, this year, 2020, we have thought it advisable to cancel the Horticultural Show but we shall be back in 2021.  Our Spring show was also the victim of the coronavirus but our photographic competition Spring Gardens on was a great success with over 200 entires.
The Committee is always looking for helpers for the day of the Show to steward, put up tables, etc and its not too early to offer for 2021!  Please contact Susan Brock (E: ) if you able to spare an hour or two.
