Ilmington Parish Council

Local Government requirements stipulate that Parish Councils adopt a code of conduct for its members and that they have a register of members’ interests.

Under our code of conduct , the Parish Council must act appropriately and conform with the Seven Principles of Public Life.  One of these is the principle of integrity : that ‘Holders of public office must avoid placing themselves under any obligation to people or organisations that might try inappropriately to influence them in their work. They should not act or take decisions in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, or their friends. They must declare and resolve any interests and relationships.’

All sitting Councillors need to register their declarable interests ; both declarable pecuniary interests and other interests that must be declared and registered as required by our unitary authority’s code and our duty to act appropriately with the Seven Principles of Public Life.

A person’s pecuniary interests are their business interests (for  example their employment, trade, profession, contracts, or any company with which they are associated) and any wider  financial interests they might have (for example trust funds, investments, and assets including land and property).
