Ilmington

Music Festival

Set in the impressive gardens of the Grange, the Ilmington music festival consists of a series of mini concerts in a party atmosphere with the opportunity between acts to enjoy the grounds, picnic and sample the food and drink that will be on sale.

The performances will take place in a performance marquee with seating for up to 300 people.  Others may choose to sit or stand on the bank outside the marquee.

The classical performances will take place each hour for up to 40 minutes. Click on the stave to the right to see a programme of the day.

One of the highlights of the day will be a staged performance of highlights from 'The Barber of Seville'. A narrator will guide us through the hilarious story of love and skullduggery which will be sung in English (mostly) and accessible to all. However the really exciting thing is the quality of the performers in that we have Charles Matthews and Lorna Perry.

Scarlet Manhattan starring the gorgeous Julia Addison will perform at 7pm. The jazz quartet will take over from the classical performances and at this point the bar will open into the marquee and the ambience will change into a chilled out party atmosphere ready for an evening ofpartying. After the Jazz set the staging and any remaining seating will be removed and we will have a dance floor for a disco.

At about 10pm we will have a firework display. The evening closes at midnight.

The festival will be led by the composer and conductor Julian Harris, resident of the village and the accompanist for the day will be Charles Matthews the world famous pianist.

We are delighted to have the St James's Singers and the Junior St James's Singers @ The Croft and Iain's London friends newly named the Brunswick Place Singers performing at the festival too.

Tickets, priced at £10 each or £30 for a family ticket, go to help towards the cost of the day and can be purchased from Iain Barker at The Grange or by emailing him at Contact Iain Barker
